Andrew

Aside from my family surfing is everything to me. I grew up in country Queensland and once I saw the ocean I was hooked. I have surfed all up and down the east and west coast of Australia, Bali and the Pacific islands. I have worked in Hospitality and water sports on the Gold Coast since I first left school and now owning the surf school with my lovely wife and being able to teach people to surf every day is a dream come true. I could not be happier with the crew we have, they are all as passionate about surfing and teaching as I am and I know that even if I can’t be with a class they are in great hands and they are being taught the way I would if I was teaching it.

Andrews tip: Just give it a go, life’s better when you surf.

Kerri

I grew up on the Central coast of NSW and it was all about surfing and football. I loved the beach, my girlfriends and I would ride our horses to the beach at sun up and swim and play till sun down. Unfortunately back then there were no surf schools so you just had to borrow a board and knock yourself out till you got it right.

I moved to the Gold Coast when I was 18 where it is all about surfing, not so much football. I still love the beach although these days I am surfing the net more than anything else. I love the surf school, I love the lifestyle, I love that my husband is able to go off each day and do a job that he is passionate about, I love the crew that we work with, I love that my children are all growing up on the beach and getting all the benefits of the healthy lifestyle that surfing provides and most of all I love being able to deal with people who are here enjoying their holidays and enjoying their surfing experience with us.

Kerri’s tip: Be good to your mum she is most likely the one who will buy
you your first surf board.

Craig

I have been surfing for 14 years, my favourite spots are South Straddie and Burleigh. Surfing in Queensland and working on the beach, life can’t get much better. I really love teaching people to surf, I love watching them progress for their fist time standing on a board to being out there catching their own waves. I get a major buzz when I run into people out in the surf that I have taught. My office is the ocean and I get to see young kids who have been in one of my lessons growing up to be great surfers.

I love working for Get Wet, it’s a really nice family business and they are fun people to be around.

Craig’s tip: don’t forget its all about the surfing and having a good time.

William

Surfing has been a big part of my life for over 30 years. I grew up in Victoria and I have travelled all over the world for the past 15 years, where I have surfed in Bali, the USA, Europe and even the Middle East. I get a real kick out of surf coaching, the look on a persons face when they catch their first wave is priceless. I have an amazing lifestyle,
for the past 10 years I have been working in Cyprus for the Aussie winters and coming back to Australia for the summer season and working with Get Wet. I have finally decided to settle down and of course coming back to the Gold Coast and working with the crew is the best place in the world for me, Kerri and Andrew are just like family.

Will’s tip: keep it real and go hard.

Harriet

Being from the UK I always get a double take when I say I’m a surf coach. I have worked for the largest surf school in the UK since I was 16 and I have surfed in Europe, Bali and now Australia. I love surfing in the warmer waters where I can leave my wet suit back home. I really love working with Get Wet, the crew have made me feel like part of the family and I can honestly say that their teaching approach is the most effective method I have seen.

Harriet’s tip: I think surfing is the most addictive sport, you just have to try it once and you will be hooked.

Aneurin (Inny)

I grew up in Wales, in the UK, and have surfed there since I was a Grom. After recently finishing my studies and exploring all the waves that England, Wales and France have to offer - I decided it was time to search further afield. So here I am on the Goldie, fresh from a 2 month surf stint in Indonesia.  I am so stoked to be teaching here in Surfer's Paradise after the cold, flat summer we had in Wales. This place has super consistent beach breaks and perfect weather - what better place to teach or be taught the best sport on earth?! Nothing gets me more psyched than the pumped reaction everyone gets once they're on their feet and surfing. It has a knock on effect and by the end of it the whole class; both students and coaches, are all buzzing - it's contagious!

Inny's Tip: if in doubt, paddle out!

Russell (Rusty)

Gday, I have been a surf coach all my adult life (some 20yrs and counting).  Due to my lack of drive coming out of University, I had no option but to LOL around on the beach and make some money.  Surfing has been my life and I would spend 8 hours of a day doing it.  Fortunately after 30 years of it, I slowed down and I pay more attention to my students now. I still get a huge buzz when people stand up for the first time (which is usually on their first wave - bragging).  I guess my fascination with it now is to study human movement and to help people make the process of standing easy.  Throw in about 10 years of martial arts (6 years of teaching) which is my second passion, I gain great insight into the way the mind works and the constant battle between the conscious and the unconscious mind.

Rustys tip: Surfing is cool! Come try it!  Stay awhile! Maybe 30 years! The health benefits are amazing!

Lawrence (Loz)

Growing up on the coast in Wales i have experienced surfing since i was a teenager and my only regret is not having started as soon as i could swim! I have surfed for a number of years and i've been lucky enough to take my passion around the world to various destinations including spots accross Europe, Indonesia and Australia. I have coached in the UK and now in Australia and can see why so many people are getting in the water. It's so rewarding seeing how stoked people can get through surfing and just how addictive the lifestyle is!

Loz’s tip: Until you've surf you wont know the feeling!
